A video is going viral claiming to be a recipe for "Spokane style" pizza.

The so-called recipe for chef, influencer Josh Scherer aka the @MythicalChef includes the most preposterous ingredients ever thrown together in the same dish.

  • Dough
  • Fry sauce
  • Canned salmon
  • Bell pepper
  • Onion
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Local strawberries
  • More fry sauce

Josh has to be trolling. There are replies from Spokane natives claiming they've never heard or seen anything called "Spokane-style" pizza their entire Inland Northwest-living lives.

Let's debunk this crazy video before things get more out-of-hand and sully our culinary reputation even more than it already has.

Right off the bat, pronouncing Spokane as Spo-cain is the first red flag. Next, the Mythical Chef claims "Spokane actually invented the casserole." This is false, according to Wikipedia:

The dish originates in the Upper Midwest region of the United States, where it remains popular, particularly in Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and eastern Montana.

More fake news when he says "fry sauce, a local delicacy," which despite the goodness of fry sauce, it is not a local delicacy here in Spokane.

Those inaccuracies coupled with the sheer horror the ingredients has to make you believe "Spokane-style" pizza is a myth and nothing but an attempt at a viral troll job.
